Given Shelter, Not Warfare

would you give emotional shelter • much like i once did for you • open door like none before • a sunny day inside to hold

would you show mercy to a king • would you be conscious of the mess • or would you chase their royal blues away • now that you’re healed you now can hold

aren’t you excited for your future • aren’t you better when you’re free • now that you don’t need any shelter • you need not ever hear from me

you wouldn’t turn away such shelter • like what I once meant to you • thinking you as none before • each new day someone to hold you • the shelter you now give away
